Childish Gambino has confirmed that he has a new album on the horizon.
TMZ caught up with the superstar rapper and actor on Thursday as he left a hotel in New York City.
When asked by the publication what's next for him, Gambino replied: "Another album."
Asked when said album would be dropping, he said: "Soon."
Gambino's new album will be his fifth studio album following 2011's "Camp," 2013's "Because the Internet," 2016's "Awaken, My Love!" and 2020's "3.15.20."
The 40-year-old star first spoke about the prospect of a new album in an interview with Complex in October.
Just as he did in his recent chat with TMZ, however, he kept the details sparse.
“I feel like it’ll be clear sooner rather than later,” he said. “It’d be better for people to just tune in, I suppose."
Asked what’s most “exciting” him in the studio right now, Gambino replied: “I like it when something is naturally functional. I used to try and be like, ‘Oh, this is just a good song and I like it.’ But now I think functionality is key."
“I love it when we make something and I’m like, ‘Oh, I know exactly what this is for. This is for Monday Night Football,’" he added. "You know, that kind of thing. Like, 'This is for this kind of Instagram post.’ I like all that shit.”
