Lauryn Hill has postponed the remainder of her tour with her former group Fugees for medical reasons.

The legendary singer and rapper took to Instagram on Tuesday to share the news.

"As many of you may know, I’ve been battling serious vocal strain for the past month," Hill wrote, adding that she had been taking prescribed medication to make it through recent shows.

"In order to prevent any long term negative affect on my voice and my body, I need to take time off to allow for real vocal recovery so that I can discontinue the medication completely," she continued.

Hill and Fugees will play one final show in Philadelphia this coming weekend, but the remaining dates of their tour – which is celebrating the 25th anniversary of Hill's debut and only solo album "The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill" – will be moved to next year.

New dates will also be added next year due to the "overwhelming response" to the tour, wrote Hill.

"We want to thank everyone who celebrated with us," the 48-year-old star wrote on Instagram. "We’re all looking forward to getting back out again next year to finish this epic (now extended anniversary) celebration of these classics."

The postponement of Hill and Fugees' tour comes after Hill clapped back at critics of her time-keeping skills at one of her recent shows.

In recent years, the "To Zion" singer has a developed a reputation for coming on stage late.

Addressing the crowd at a show in Los Angeles on November 4, Hill told them they should be grateful she performs at all.

"They say, ‘Oh, she’s late’ and ‘She’s late tonight," Hill said. "Yo, y'all lucky I make it on this blood ras stage every night."

"I don't do it because they let me do it," she added. "I do it because I stand here in the name of God and I do it. God is the one who allows me to do it, who surrounded me with family and community when there was no support."
