Nelly's Ja Rule impression is spot on.

On Sunday, the "Ride Wit Me" rapper and his beau Ashanti performed together at Nelly's charity gala, the Black and White Ball.

During their performance, Nelly assumed the role of Ja Rule as Ashanti performed her 2002 duet with the New York rapper, "Mesmerize.”

Nelly did his best to mimic Ja's trademark gravelly tone and the outcome was surprisingly effective.

Nelly’s Black and White Ball was held at the Four Seasons Hotel in St. Louis, Missouri after a seven year hiatus.

The gala welcomed guests from the worlds of business, sports, and entertainment, including Jim Edmonds, Big Boss Vette, Ron Isley, and Orlando Pace.

As well as a performance from Nelly and Ashanti, guests were also treated to sets from Jermaine Dupri, Monica, and Bow Wow.

Wyclef Jean headlined the afterparty.

The event raised money for scholarships for Harris Stowe State University, as well as the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

In other Nelly and Ashanti news, the rekindled couple have a new song on the way produced by Jermaine Dupri.

Last week, Dupri shared a video to Instagram of him and the couple in the studio together.

Though in the video the three were debating the rules of the jumprope game “Double Dutch," Dupri confirmed in the caption that a new song from the pair featuring Juicy J is on the horizon.

“Although we talking bout double Dutch, this a NEW RECORD ALERT !!” he wrote. “Got @nelly @ashanti & @juicyj on the way !!”

Juicy J commented on the post with a series of trophy emojis.
