SZA has said that she is now remaking her "SOS" reissue "Lana" from scratch following a number of songs from the project leaking online.
Several of the tracks yet to feature on "Lana" have been leaked in recent months, including "Joni" and, most recently, a collaboration with James Blake titled "Coming Back."
In a since-deleted post on X, the platform previously known as Twitter, shared on Monday, SZA wrote: “So, we’ll make this really simple. Y’all leaked three songs from the deluxe. At this point, y’all can keep the throwaways and leaks. I’ll be starting ‘Lana’ from scratch. Do not ask me about it again. Thank you.”
In a follow-up post, which has also been deleted, she added: “I’ll round up the leaks y’all already got and u can have those. Seems like a fair deal. ENJOY."
SZA has been expressing her frustration at her music being leaked for a while.
In an interview with Variety in November, SZA said that leaks "ruin" her songs.
"It's not mine anymore; it's actually yours," she said. "It's something unfinished that you decided was ready to be shared. And it's like, 'Fuck you. Now I'm not releasing it.'"
In January, the Top Dawg Entertainment singer then took to X to threaten legal action against those leaking her songs.
"LEAKING MY MUSIC IS STEALING," she wrote, adding: "YOU ARE A FUCKING THIEF AND I PROMISE TO PUT MAXIMUM ENERGY INTO HOLDING EVERYONE ACCOUNTABLE TO THE FULL EXTENT OF THE LAW."
"SOS," SZA's Grammy Award-winning sophomore album, was released in December 2022.
While recording the project, SZA recorded over 100 songs. "Lana" was, until now, expected to comprise mostly of those previously unreleased songs.
