Vince Staples has confirmed that he will be dropping a new project in the very near future.
The "Norf Norf" rapper broke the news in a recent interview with BigBoyTV.
“I’m working, I’m close. I’m trying to put something out,” he said. “I got Europe in June, so I’m going to try to put something out before I go out there.”
Staples is headed on a six-leg tour of Europe in early June, which will see him visit Germany, France, England, and Spain.
Asked to confirm if his new project will drop before his trip across the Atlantic, Staples said: “Yeah, for sure.”
Staples' most recent studio, "Ramona Park Broke My Heart," was released in 2022.
Featuring the songs "Magic" with DJ Mustard and "Lemonade" with Ty Dolla $ign, the project was widely acclaimed by critics.
Discussing the album, which is named after Long Beach, California neighborhood in which Staples grew up and tackles themes of gun violence and generational poverty, in an interview with the Guardian, Staples said: "It’s not entertainment."
"People look at us like we’re entertainment and not people," he explained. "That’s how we look at rap music. That’s how we look at Black people."
He added: “We just don’t care about people like me and where I come from – we just pretend to.”
